Hi Kristin! I am so glad to hear that you made a successful transition!

I myself came from a bachelors of science in the Biological Sciences, and I was working with the USFWS. Eventually, I found a passion for UX design. I went through Career Foundry’s immersive UX part-time program while I worked two jobs, so I know how difficult it can be!

I now work as a user experience designer at The Tombras Group (digital advertising agency) here in Knoxville.

My path was also rocky, but well worth it. My suggestion to new people is to develop a “UX brand” for themselves; ie, don’t just be another UX designer. Specifically, brand yourself, contribute to communities (such as Medium), build a solid Linkedin presence, network and share as much valuable information as you can, while also helping people along their journey.

It will pay off massively.

Cheers! -Sam
